Do calendar days include weekends?
Yes. Calendar days normally include Saturdays and Sundays, unlike business days, which generally exclude weekends.
Weekends count as calendar days
A calendar-day count moves through every date shown on a calendar. That means Saturday and Sunday are included. Public holidays are normally included as well unless the instructions say otherwise.
For example, ten calendar days beginning on the first of a month are counted consecutively. You do not pause the count for either weekend.
When to check the wording
Look for terms such as business days, working days, court days, or school days. Those terms use different counting rules. Contracts, filing rules, and benefit documents may also specify what happens when a deadline ends on a non-working day.
